As a tropical country, India has tremendous potential for energy generation through Non Conventional Energy Sources viz., biomass, MSW, Hydel, solar, Wind etc., In India, biomass energy is being utilized mainly for domestic, commercial and industrial applications. Globally, India ranks fourth in generating power through biomass and with a huge potential, is poised to become a world leader in utilization of biomass.

These power plants not only generates grid quality power, but is also environment-friendly and a sustainable solution to the power crisis in India. It can reduce the use of fossil fuels which are already depleting and help in the recycling of bio-waste and be made available on demand without the need for separate storage.

Recognizing its immense value, the Government of India supported by The Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES), has come forward to support biomass based power plants in a big way throughout the country with fiscal incentives.
